Motherhood
Moonshin Museum
2023
Under the theme of Motherhood, this exhibition explores the artist’s singular vision through the 〈Ottogi〉 series, revealing the primordial source of motherhood on a cosmic scale beyond the division of male and female.
The exhibition newly presents 240 〈Ottogi〉 works in painting, sculpture, and video, all made of hanji, together with 320 earthen bricks collected from a 150-year-old clay house in Andong steeped in maternal presence. In doing so, it transforms earth—the mother of the land—into a maternal object that embodies a longing for peaceful coexistence, leaving viewers with a deeper and more lasting resonance.
